Manufacturing Students Impacting Others:
Manufacturing students at Chickasaw High School in Chickasaw, Alabama are making a difference while they learn through an after-school club called “Lifechangers”. The students are participating in a Prosthetic Project where they are using 3D printers to make prosthetics for amputees in underdeveloped countries. Modern prosthetics cost between $10,000 and $60,000 making them unattainable for the majority of the amputees in developing nations. The program is enabling amputees to receive affordable, life-changing prosthetics. So far, the students have built 9 prosthetic legs which have been sent to amputees in Honduras.
