Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability.
Preparing students for entering the workforce is a priority for me. Spending time on building resumes, learning how to apply for jobs, interview skills, and professional behavior is key. Students need to learn the hands-on skills and training that CTE offers, but they also need to know the basics of being employable in order to be successful in any field.
Below is a Student Resume Template I created:

Accommodating learner variability is made easy by using grading rubrics for class assignments. Click the preview photo below to view the rubric I created using Rubistar for a student group presentation assignment.

A major part of designing for education is creating digital lessons for students. Softchalk is a great tool for creating digital lessons with activities and quizzes to measure learning and provide feedback to both students and their teachers.
Below is a preview of a lesson I created in Softchalk called "Creating Personal Budgets" for a high school life skills learning module on personal finances. The lesson includes several interactive activities, videos to enhance learning, a quiz, and a survey to provide feedback from students.

Responsible creation of content is important. Photos For Class is a great tool to help students create digital content and properly use and attribute creative commons photos for class projects, presentations, and more.

Teachers: this one's for you. One of my favorite resources for designing learner-driven lessons and media for my classroom is Teachers Pay Teachers. The website is full of lessons, activities, and digital content created by other teachers that are available for purchase, though many items are free. Additionally, I can post anything I create for my class on the site for other educators to purchase. Making sales on content we create equates to extra classroom funds! TPT is a win-win.

In this new age of technology, educators are always trying to find ways to keep students engaged. A tool that I love for interactive classroom engagement is QRCode Monkey. Using QR codes is a fun way to involve students in assignments, classroom bulletin boards, study tools, scavenger hunts, escape games, and more.
