Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning.
I believe that educators should be constantly learning. In recent years, I have rediscovered my own love of learning. I also support sharing what we learn to help others grow with us.
Throughout my time in CTE, I have gathered articles and sources that I believe are helpful to CTE students and educators. I complied these into an Annotated Bibliography for quick reference.

Learning about new ways to connect with students and make lessons engaging is something educators continuously do.
I recently learned about Flipped Classrooms. "Flipping" is:
Flipped classrooms are great for CTE lessons because students aren't spending valuable class time listening to lectures or reading text when they could be involved in team-based learning activities, hands-on-training, skills labs, and pinpointed classroom instruction.

Sophia and Straighterline are two resources that I used to complete my undergraduate degree. I highly recommend them for students who need to complete general education requirements. Here, students can take affordable courses online and transfer them to their college for credit.
Sophia-
Sophia-
- Offers 50+ courses
- Allows students to enroll in up to two courses at once
- Costs $99 a month, subscription-based
- No additional course fee
Straighterline-
- Offers 60+ courses
- Allows students to enroll in multiple courses at once
- Costs $99 a month, subscription-based
- Additional course fee per course (average of $59)
These websites are also great for students who want to learn more about a particular subject, whether or not they need college credit, all for a fraction of the cost of tuition and fees at a college or university.
You can view a list of institutions that accept credits from Sophia and Straighterline on their respective websites. There are two accredited universities in the state of Alabama that accept transfer credits from these sites: Alabama A&M University and Athens State University.
**On either site, I recommend filtering courses by your learning institution first to view the list of courses that transfer for credit, unless you are taking courses and do not need to transfer credits. Be sure to check the transfer guide to your school to find out how many transfer credits are accepted from non-traditional sources like these to make sure you don't take courses that won't transfer.
